Update: General Assembly Special Event on MDGs & Other Useful Information for the 68th GA

Information on Access to UN Headquarters during the Opening of the 68th Session of the General Assembly

Access to the United Nations complex during the high-level meetings, from 22 September through 4 October, will be restricted. Members of civil society who are invited to attend the high-level meetings will require a separate ticket for each event, regardless of whether they hold an annual UN groundspass. Annual "N" passes will not provide access to the United Nations grounds from 23 September to 4 October 2013. Each event will have its own invitation list and organizers are responsible for contacting invitees and providing access. Contact the event organizer for questions. No requests for temporary or annual passes can be made between 16 September and 4 October 2013.

Programme and list of accepted non-governmental organizations now available for General Assembly Special Event to follow up on MDGs 25 September 2013, UNHQ

The programme for the General Assembly Special Event, including the list of civil society representatives chosen by the President of the General Assembly as speakers, is now available here.

In his letter of 21 August 2013, President of the 67th Session of the General Assembly Vuk Jeremić published List I of representatives of NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC who are attending the event. In addition, nominations by non-ECOSOC groups were circulated to Member States on a no-objection basis as List II. The final list of accepted organizations is contained in the PGA’s letter of 6 September 2013.

Registered organizations will be contacted by DESA NGO Branch this week with more information including on how to pick up their tickets for this event. Only those organizations in List I or the final List II will be able to access UN Headquarters to attend the Special Event.

Programme, including list of civil society speakers, for High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 24 September 2013, UNHQ

In accordance with resolution 67/290 and the letter of the President of the General Assembly (PGA) dated 24 July 2013, the first meeting of the High-level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development will be held on Tuesday, 24 September 2013, from 3PM to 7PM, in the Trusteeship Council Chamber at UNHQ. This event, which is closed to civil society due to the high level of Member State participation, will be broadcast live and on archive video via UN WebTV. The letter of the PGA dated 5 September provides additional information about the event, including its programme.
