Instructions for access to the United Nations premises during the High Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS: For persons not holding Secretariat or Observer of Delegation passes

Please be advised that the UN complex will be closed to persons not having official business during this time. Individuals without Secretariat, Observer of Delegation, and NGO passes (ECOSOC and DPI), must obtain a “T” pass in order to be permitted in to the HLM for HIV/AIDS.

Additionally, secondary and meeting specific passes must be obtained to supplement the “T” pass in order to gain access to specific areas of the complex (ie, Conference Rooms and the General Assembly balcony). Please read the following instructions to learn how to obtain a “T” pass, and secondary passes for the High Level Meeting (HLM) on HIV/AIDS.

Receiving conference “T” photo ID

Applicable for parties not holding Secretariat or Observer of Delegation Passes

Monday, 6 June 2011 and Tuesday, 7 June 2011

Persons seeking to receive a “T” pass must present a government issued photo ID, a letter of invitation and the completed registration form to HLM registration staff, located in the Public Lobby of the General Assembly Building.

As from Wednesday, 8 June 2011

As the UN complex will be closed to persons not having official business, persons who wish to enter the premises for the HLM on HIV/AIDS must receive their “T” pass. Applicants must present a government issued photo ID, letter of invitation and completed registration form to the Security Officer(s) at the Visitor‘s Gate. After proceeding through the Screening Tent, applicants must present these documents to HLM registration staff located in Public Lobby of the General Assembly Building.

Please note that should it be impossible for applicants to arrive with a completed registration form, the letter of invitation and a government issued photo ID will be sufficient to begin the accreditation process.

Building/room specific access procedures:

Persons holding Conference “T” passes:

North Lawn Building (NLB):

To access the NLB and the overflow room (Conference Room 1), a “T” pass is required.

To access the Panel Discussion(s) in Conference Room 2 of the NLB, a secondary access card issued by UN Protocol is required, in addition to the “T” pass.

General Assembly Hall:

To access to the fourth floor balcony, a meeting specific access card (eg Wednesday AM) issued by the UNAIDS Secretariat is required, in addition to the “T” pass. After passing through screening, take the EAST side elevators in the Public Lobby to the 4th floor of the General Assembly.

Please note that after the conclusion of the meeting for which you have an access card, you must leave the General Assembly Hall.

Access to the floor of the General Assembly will be limited to those persons actively participating in the Plenary meeting, and will be on the basis of the “T” pass and a secondary access card issued by UN Protocol.

Persons holding annual ECOSOC NGO passes:

North Lawn Building (NLB):

To access the NLB and the overflow room (Conference Room 1), the “N” ECOSOC pass and a meeting specific access card (eg Wednesday AM) that will be issued by the ECOSOC NGO Secretariat, are required.

Please note that after the conclusion of the meeting for which you have an access card, you must leave the premises.

General Assembly Hall:

To access to the fourth floor balcony, the “N” ECOSOC pass and a meeting specific access card (eg Wednesday AM) that will be issued by the ECOSOC NGO Secretariat are required. After passing through screening, take the EAST side elevators in the Public Lobby to the 4th floor of the General Assembly.

Please note that after the conclusion of the meeting for which you have an access card, you must leave the premises.

Persons holding annual DPI NGO passes:

North Lawn Building (NLB):

DPI/NGO pass holders need a meeting specific access card that will be issued by the DPI/NGO Secretariat.

General Assembly Hall:

To access the fourth floor balcony, the “N” DPI/NGO pass and a meeting specific access card (eg Wednesday AM) that will be issued by the DPI/NGO Secretariat, are required. After passing through screening, take the EAST side elevators in the Public Lobby to the 4th floor of the General Assembly.

Please note that after the conclusion of the meeting for which you have an access card, you must leave the premises.
