8 - 20 February: Online Discussion on Interventions to Accelerate the Abandonment of FGM: Lessons Learned

Following the observance of theInternational Day of Zero Tolerance to FGM(6 February), the Population Council’s INTACT Network (International Network to Analyze, Communicate and Transform the Campaign against Female Genital Mutilation or FGM) is holding an online discussion from 8 – 20 February, entitledInterventions to Accelerate the Abandonment of FGM: Lessons Learned.

The forum, hosted by the Implementing Best Practices web site, seeks to provide activists, researchers, and scholars from around the world with opportunities to discuss the culture, gender, and human rights issues underlying FGM and share approaches to achieve abandonment, strategies to engage policymakers, and ideas in evaluating the impact of interventions.

During the two-week e-discussion discussants from thePopulation Council, thePopulation Reference Bureau, theUnited Nations Population Fund(UNFPA), theUnited Nations Children’s Fund(UNICEF), and civil society will answer and pose questions as well as stimulate conversation and brainstorming.
