This section of the
website serves as a gateway to other sources of information on the Millennium
Development Goals. This gateway has two main components: listservs and
links. MDG related listservs have been provided as a vehicle to get the
latest news on the MDGs. To receive MDG news through these listservs,
please register to the electronic mailing lists of the websites specified
below. As for the links, a comprehensive list of stakeholders from outside
the United Nations system - international organizations, civil society
groups, and governments - has been made available. These websites offer
a diversity of perspectives regarding policy, analysis and research relating
to the MDGs.

The African Development Bank Group is a multinational development bank
supported by 77 nations from Africa, North and South America, Europe and
Asia. The Bank consists of three institutions: African Development Bank,

Development Bank
ADB is a multilateral development finance institution dedicated to reducing
poverty in Asia and the Pacific. Established in 1966, ADB has 63 members,
mostly from the region. ADB's overarching goal is to reduce poverty in
Asia and the Pacific. It helps improve the quality of people's lives by
providing loans and technical assistance for a broad range of development
activities.

Gateway
The Development Gateway Foundation builds partnerships and information
systems that provide access to knowledge for development in developing
countries. The Development Gateway is an independent not-for-profit organization.
It was conceived by World Bank President James Wolfensohn and initially
developed in the World Bank. Operations began in July 2001.

Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS
The Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GBC) is the pre-eminent organization
leading the business fight against HIV/AIDS. The rapidly-expanding alliance
of international companies is dedicated to combating the AIDS epidemic
through the business sector's skills and expertise.

Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was created to
dramatically increase resources to fight three of the world's most devastating
diseases, and to direct those resources to areas of greatest need. As
a partnership between governments, civil society, the private sector and
affected communities, the Global Fund represents an innovative approach
to international health financing.

Energy Partnership Online
GVEP is a voluntary Partnership that brings together developing and industrialized
country governments, public and private organizations, multilateral institutions,
consumers and others in an effort to ensure access to modern energy services
by the poor.

Chamber of Commerce (Partnership Division)
The ICC World Council is the equivalent of the general assembly of a major
intergovernmental organization. The big difference is that the delegates
are business executives and not government officials. The partnership
initiatives featured here were compiled specifically for the World Summit
on Sustainable Development, Johannesburg, September 2002.

Organization
for Economic Cooperation and Development
The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development has been called
a think tank, a monitoring agency, a rich man's club and an unacademic
university. It has elements of all, but none of these descriptions captures
the essence of the OECD. The OECD groups 30 member countries in a unique
forum to discuss, develop and refine economic and social policies. Members
compare experiences, seek answers to common problems and work to co-ordinate
domestic and international policies with an increasingly globalised world.

Paris21
Consortium
Established in November 1999, the Partnership in Statistics for Development
in the 21st Century (PARIS21) is a partnership of policymakers, analysts,
and statisticians from all countries of the world who focus on promoting
high-quality statistics, making these data meaningful, and designing sound
policies. PARIS21's role is to foster more effective dialogue among those
who produce development statistics and those who use them, through facilitating
international events, country-based activities, regional workshops, and
subject-matter task teams. The work of PARIS 21 is guided by a steering
committee with representatives of developing and transition countries
from each region of the world, bilateral donors, and the United Nations,
the OECD, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the European
Commission.

UN Global Compact
In an address to The World Economic Forum on 31 January 1999, United Nations
Secretary-General Kofi Annan challenged business leaders to join an international
initiative - the Global Compact - that would bring companies together
with UN agencies, labor and civil society to support nine principles in
the areas of human rights, labor and the environment. Launched in 2000,
the Global Compact seeks to advance responsible corporate citizenship
so that business can be part of the solution to the challenges of globalization.

The Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) is an international partnership
of the world's leading development agencies concerned with improving sector
policies, practices and capacities to serve poor people. Our goal is to
alleviate poverty by helping the poor gain sustained access to water and
sanitation services. Administered by The World Bank, WSP works to meet
the Millennium Development Goals for water and sanitation.

Internationalis
Caritas Internationalis is a confederation of 162 Catholic relief, development
and social service organizations working to build a better world, especially
for the poor and oppressed, in over 200 countries and territories. Caritas
is present in communities, before, during and after crisis situations.
Important, too, is that being part of civil society and incorporating
the perspective of the poor, Caritas can continuously adapt its strategies
to an ever changing environment.

for Global Development
The Center for Global Development is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit
think tank dedicated to reducing global poverty and inequality through
policy oriented research and active engagement on development issues with
the policy community and the public. A principal focus of the Center's
work is the policies of the United States and other industrial countries
that affect development prospects in poor countries.

DATA
DATA aims to raise awareness about, and spark response to the crises swamping
Africa: unpayable Debts, uncontrolled spread of AIDS, and unfair Trade
rules which keep Africans poor. The organization was founded in 2002 by
Bono, the lead singer of U2, along with Bobby Shriver and activists from
the Jubilee 2000 Drop the Debt campaign. At the core of DATA's mission
is a view that these issues are not about charity, but about equality
and justice.

for Malaria Venture (MMV)
MMV is a nonprofit foundation created to discover, develop and deliver
new antimalarial drugs through effective public-private partnerships.

medicines for the treatment and prevention of malaria in disease-endemic
countries.

Development Institute
ODI is Britain's leading independent think-tank on international development
and humanitarian issues. Their mission is to contribute to informed policy
and practice geared towards poverty reduction, the alleviation of suffering
and the achievement of sustainable livelihoods in developing countries.
ODI produces applied research, policy recommendations, and policy-focused
dissemination and debate. ODI has partners in the public and private sectors,

the Children
Save the Children was founded in the United States in 1932 as a nonprofit
child-assistance organization to make lasting positive change in the lives
of children in need. Today Save the Children works in 17 states across
the United States as well as in over 40 other countries in the developing
world to help children and families improve their health, education and
economic opportunities. They help mobilize rapid life-support assistance
for children and families caught in the tragedies of natural and man-made
disasters.

Watch
Social Watch is an international network informed by national citizens'
groups - from both developed and developing countries - aiming at following
up the fulfillment of the internationally agreed commitments on poverty
eradication and equality. These national groups report, through the national
Social Watch report, on the progress - or regression - towards these commitments
and goals.

Third
World Network
The Third World Network is an independent non-profit international network
of organizations and individuals involved in issues relating to development,
the Third World and North- South issues. Its objectives are to conduct
research on economic, social and environmental issues pertaining to the
South; to publish books and magazines; to organize and participate in
seminars; and to provide a platform representing broadly Southern interests
and perspectives at international fora such as the UN conferences and
processes.

Trocaire
Trócaire is the official overseas development agency of the Catholic
Church in Ireland. It was set up by the Irish Catholic Bishops in 1973
to express the concern of the Irish Church for the suffering of the world's
poorest and most oppressed people. Trócaire was given a dual mandate:
to support long-term development projects overseas and to provide relief
during emergencies and, at home, to inform the Irish public about the
root causes of poverty and injustice and mobilize the public to bring
about global change.

partnerships, the United Nations Foundation acts to meet the most pressing
health, humanitarian, socioeconomic, and environmental challenges of the
21st century. The Foundation was created with Ted Turner's historic gift
of $1 billion in support of United Nations causes. This gift supports
the United Nations in achieving the goals and objectives of the UN Charter,
