The United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS) is an inter-agency programme of the United Nations mandated to promote and develop constructive relations between the United Nations and civil society organizations.

This guide explains the governance and decision-making fora and processes of the UN system. It also provides practical knowledge and advice to non-governmental representatives who wish to engage with the UN system.

This directory gives basic information on the engagement of different UN offices, agencies, funds and programmes with external actors. In particular, it describes opportunities and procedures for the participation of civil society actors in the work of these entities.

The "Year in Review" gives a snapshot picture of civil society engagement in the policy and normative work of the UN and reviews the various consultations, forums, policy dialogues, hearings, CSO advisory committees, that have taken place throughout a given year.
