The United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS) is an inter-agency programme of the United Nations mandated to promote and develop constructive relations between the United Nations and civil society organizations.
On 12 September, in the context of the PGA’s High-level Stocktaking Event on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, UN-NGLS and the ETC Group co-hosted a side event entitled “A Critical Link in the Post-2015 Development Agenda: Technology Access and Assessment” that sought to explore and shed light on technology-related issues that are essential to shaping the new development agenda.
The thirteenth session of the Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was held at UNHQ from 14-19 July. The session was originally scheduled to end on 18 July, but continued throughout the night and into mid-afternoon of the next day. On 19 July, the OWG Outcome Document was finally concluded, after 17 months of preparatory negotiations on the SDGs, which included eight stock-taking sessions and five decision-making sessions, as well as informal sessions. It presents 17 proposed goals with 169 proposed targets.
