The United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS) is an inter-agency programme of the United Nations mandated to promote and develop constructive relations between the United Nations and civil society organizations.
UN-NGLS has just released Issue #4 of the 2015 Post, our monthly interactive e-magazine on the post-2015 development agenda. The February issue includes updates on OWG on SDGs, the ICESDF, and the PGA events; perspectives from civil society and UN staff; opportunities to participate in upcoming processes; and an expanded list of upcoming post-2015 events.
Bernedette Muthien of Engender, a Cape Town, South Africa based NGO, reflects upon the the linkages between ending sexual and gender-based violence and universal value systems of compassion and justice. Delivered around the OWG on SDGs’ discussion on gender equality and women’s human rights, Bernedette’s piece calls on the United Nations to “hold up its noble foundations” towards a more compassionate and just world, free from discrimination and violence.
