10 years after UN SCR 1325: Conflict Prevention Mechanisms

A panel discussion entitled "10 years after UN SCR 1325: Conflict Prevention Mechanisms" brought together three of the members of the Civil Society Advisory Group to critically discuss the concept of conflict prevention under Security Council Resolution 1325 and the local, national, regional and, international mechanisms which should be linked with prevention strategies.

Convention on Cluster Munitions goes into effect

The Convention on Cluster Munitions entered into force on 1 August 2010, requiring Member States that have ratified the treaty to dispose of their stockpiles of cluster bombs and eliminate their production. Thus far, 108 States have adopted the cluster bomb ban; of that number, 38 have ratified the treaty.
