The United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS) is an inter-agency programme of the United Nations mandated to promote and develop constructive relations between the United Nations and civil society organizations.
From 1 to 12 March 2010, the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will hold its 54th session, during which it will review the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (also known as Beijing +15), as well as the outcomes of the 23rd special session of the General Assembly (Beijing +5). Thanks to a contribution made by the late Ms. Yvonne Marie-Therese Hebert, the Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW) is able to provide funding for eight to ten ECOSOC accredited NGOs to participate as observers at CSW54 from 1-5 March.
The selection criteria for candidates are:
• candidates must have active membership with an ECOSOC-accredited NGO;
• should have substantial knowledge and experience related to the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action;
• must be a first-time participant attending a session of CSW;
• and must not be a recipient of other funding to attend CSW.
Special consideration will be given to geographic balance, youth, candidates with disabilities, indigenous and minority women, and candidates with a large network and outreach capacity at various levels.
