Río+twenties publishes a Río+20 Participation Guide: an introduction for children and youth

The organization Río+twenties is a platform that facilitates the active participation of youth in the lead up to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20). This initiative is led by young volunteers from different countries that aim to create a space where young people from around the world have the opportunity to get involved and change the future of the planet.

With this objective in mind, Río+twenties published a “Rio+20 Participation Guide” which serves as an introduction to children and youth in order to enhance their understanding of the Rio+20 process. The Guide offers specific information on the Conference, identifies participation mechanisms and shares practices, advice and tools that can stimulate youth contributions. Similarly, it provides examples with respect to youth activism in order to support the creation of new projects or to help youth with their initiatives.

Moreover, Río+twenties has created a space where they unite all the ideas and opinions that they receive from youth around the world. The objective is to improve and optimize collective efforts and to develop strategies to increase the visibility of youth within the Rio+20 process.

The website of the organization provides clear information on key concepts, intervention mechanisms, and frequently asked questions around civil society participation. It also has a space where interested youth can publish articles related to Rio+20 or show their initiatives. It describes, for example, different ways to get involved – whether through the creation of posters and cards or by joining a group to support youth efforts.

Another website related to the Major Group Children and Youth is: CSD Youth Caucus
