Annual Ministerial Review of ECOSOC: 3-4 July

As previously announced, the first Annual Ministerial Review (AMR) of the Economic and Social Council is being held on 3-4 July 2007, during the High-level segment of the 2007 ECOSOC Substantive Session taking place in Geneva.

There will be a live web-cast on 3-4July 2007 from the Palais des Nations in Geneva for part of the AMR session. Following the conclusion of the meeting the web-cast will be archived.

The following documentation on the AMR is available on the ECOSOC website:

1. The Report of the Secretary-General: Annual Ministerial Review: Strengthening Efforts to Eradicate Poverty and Hunger, Including Through the Global Partnership for Development (E/2007/71)

2. The National Reports submitted by the six countries (Barbados, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Ethiopia and Ghana) making voluntary national presentations on 3 July.

3. The unofficial version of the Report of the Latin American and Caribbean Regional Consultations on the ECOSOC Annual Ministerial Review: “Key challenges of financing poverty and hunger eradication in Latin America and the Caribbean”, held in Brasilia 17-18 May 2007.

4. The summary of MDGNet’s e-Discussion on Strengthening Efforts to Eradicate Poverty and Hunger held earlier this year is a part of the background documentation on the AMR.

The Millennium Development Goals 2007 Report was launched on 2 July in Geneva during the High-level Segment.
