The United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN-NGLS) is an inter-agency programme of the United Nations mandated to promote and develop constructive relations between the United Nations and civil society organizations.
11 December 2006 - UNICEF has launched its annual The State of the World’s Children report with the theme for 2007 titled “Women and Children: The Double Dividend of Gender Equality.” According to the report, women’s influence in key decisions improves the lives of women and has a positive effect on child well-being and development. It also examines the discrimination and disempowerment women face throughout their lives- and outlines what must be done to eliminate gender discrimination and empower women and girls. The report makes seven key recommendations and includes an extensive section of statistical tables. The report is also available in French and Spanish.
